Contrasts with its explicit subtitles - I. Polarities, II. Atmospheres III. Motion - is an exciting work that explores the trumpet ensemble resources with aggressive and flashy passages merged with subtle mood effects expressed through the use of timbre and instrumental colors. An accomplished trumpet ensemble can experience considerable success and enjoyment when performing this work. This outstanding and exciting musical contribution to the contemporary repertoire for five trumpets was commissioned by, and written for the “2015 Eastman Trumpet Ensemble” (Steve Felix, Samuel Huss, Michael Kent, Dovas Lietuvninkas, Andrew Psarris) of the Eastman School of Music and the director of wind studies, Dr. Mark Davis Scatterday, contributor. This work can be performed without transposition either with 5 C-, or 5 B flat trumpets. Important about notation: The compositions of Anthony Plog include many passages with accidentals. It is important to observe the international rules for music notation in his works: 1) independent accidentals in one measure do not apply to following measures. 2) accidentals in one octave do not apply to any other octave 3) When accidentals are redundantly repeated in any measure to avoid confusion they appear in parenthesis (also in small size above the note).
